Mesoscale Analysis & Prediction Support System
A turnkey Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) service or system that uses a proprietary version of the community Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model to provide high resolution, accurate weather forecasts from an hour out to 10 days. WDSS installs turnkey (hardware and software) systems for clients such as government agencies, large oil producers, and aviation interests globally, with some of our larger systems delivered to the Philippines, Thailand, Dubai and Turkmenistan.
Better forecasts through data assimilation
Our PostWRF Application is a comprehensive package for post-processing raw WRF output and creating parameters and formats that apply to operational meteorologists.
Data products from the system are produced in WMO GRIB-2 format for easy integration into a wide variety of meteorological display applications. The process runs concurrent with the WRF forecast, so products become available as the model progresses instead of waiting for a forecast run to complete. MAPSS includes graphical product generation in PNG format suitable for basic web page viewing, and a custom viewer to display images.
Our WRF Control package is at the heart of MAPSS, providing end-to-end task management with fault tolerance, resource allocation, job monitoring and logging, and automated e-mail alerting
The MAPSS Management Portal allows creation, modification, and deletion of WRF domains, routine scheduling of forecasts, monitoring and viewing of basic graphical products generated by an automatic plotting capability.
Because MAPSS runs on a Linux cluster built from commodity hardware, upgrades can be delivered incrementally at a lower cost. Regarding capacity, WDSS offers a variety of applications you can seamlessly add.
